The Big Dog Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization benefiting dogs, children, and dogs that help people. Throughout its existence, the Big Dog Foundation,
with the support of the Parade, has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities that help dogs, children, and dogs that help people.

Each year the Parade committee selects a Grand Marshal. The Grand Marshal is a charity that is going above and beyond the call of duty to create better lives for dogs, children, and dogs that help people. The 2006 Grand Marshal was the Lili Claire Foundation which was established to enhance the lives of children living with Williams syndrome, Down syndrome, Autism, Fetal Alcohol syndrome, and other neurogenetic conditions.

Each year, the Big Dog Parade and Canine Festival gains more and more celebrity support. Celebrity Tori Spelling showed her support for the 2005 Big Dog Parade with her Much Love adopted dogs Mimi La Rue and Ferris. Tiffani Thiessen joined Tori Spelling, her 90210 co-star, for a day of
fun! Thiessen participated as a celebrity judge along with actor Tim Matheson of West Wing and Animal House and drummer Aynsley Dunbar of the band, Journey.
Animal Planet’s Matt Gallant emceed this year’s Canine Festival to help raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Los Angeles.
